THE SHACK Comes to Hollywood

Over the next two days I’ll be meeting with the original team that brought THE SHACK together, including the author. We will be meeting at my home in the Los Angeles area to hammer out the process of adapting this book to a screenplay and then produce it into a feature film. This was our desire from the beginning and the overwhelming success of this story in its first few months has opened that door. We’ve had a number of overtures from major studios and production companies that would like to buy the movie rights from us. But we want to take steps to ensure that the message of the book is not undermined in the process of making the movie more marketable. Ultimately that means we will need to raise the money rather than depend on studio financing. In Hollywood, control of the project follows the money put up to produce it. This should be interesting. Your prayers during this time will be greatly appreciated.

Well, as was so clearly illustrated with the publishing manner of the book, if God wishes for it to become a film with a certain message retained within it, then I suppose it’s going to happen.

After having read such glowing reviews of The Shack for so long, I finally got my copy on Friday. I read the book yesterday afternoon, and now I’m re-reading it again today. What a treasure! This has been a blessing from the Father to me. May God direct the next step in which He uses this moving story.

    Dear Wayne Jacobsen,

Wanted to let you know I e-mailed Wind Blown and William Young to let you know I would like to help in any way I can to get The Shack made into a movie. I have operated as a manager of screenwriters and I am a screenwriter myself. For the born- again Christian navigating through the waters of the Hollywood Film Industry is not impossible. One of my scripts is getting coverage from an academy award winning director as I write this, and it is my prayer that The Shack can recieve the same coverage and independent financing so you can maintain the integrity of the story and not have it edited and watered down by certain studio executives. I offer my help in any way it can be recieved to the Glory of God.
